There is so much to see and do in Tuscaloosa! The city is steadily growing, and each month Tricia will be sharing her Tuscaloosa Top 5. This month, let’s start with one of our favorite non-profits!
Non-Profit: American Red Cross of Alabama & Mississippi
The Red Cross does so much to support our neighbors in need. From disaster response, to support for military families, training and certification, to safe blood supply– the Red Cross works tirelessly to prevent suffering in the face of emergencies. We are thankful for all they do for Tuscaloosa and are excited to be the title sponsor for Swing for Relief, a golf tournament that will help the Red Cross continue their life saving mission in Alabama. This year’s tournament will be played at Ol’ Colony Golf Complex on May 24th.
You can register a team or as an individual player! If you are a business owner, there are multiple sponsorship opportunities available. Click here to learn more and get involved.
Restaurant: Buffalo Phil’s

This rustic brick & wood pub on the strip draws college students & families for wings, comfort food & a wide beer selection. Buffalo Phil’s is a restaurant well-tested in “the art of wings”. Exclusive recipes, secret ingredients, and food preparation techniques designed to make Buffalo Phil’s food consistently fresh help make Buffalo Phil’s food consistently delicious. Our whole team loves Buffalo Phil’s
ESPN mentioned Buffalo Phil’s as one of the best places to eat in Tuscaloosa. And, not surprisingly, the Tuscaloosa News says they’ve got the best wings in town. University of Alabama students, they accept Dining Dollars!
Boutique: Papori

Papori is one of Tuscaloosa’s newest boutiques, and is quickly becoming one of our favorites! Located inside of Lampadas, the store is full of colorful tops, dresses and accessories. We love that they have a mix of affordable pieces and high-end brands. From full sequins to athleisure, they have some of everything. Stop in if you are looking for an outfit for a date night, party, or game day! You will be glad you did. Follow them on Instagram to see their new arrivals @shoppapori.
Family Spot: Mason’s Place

Mason’s Place is Tuscaloosa’s only all-inclusive playground located at Sokol Park. This thoughtfully designed park is fun for kids of all ages and abilities. The park features playground equipment fashioned after University of Alabama landmarks Denny Chimes and the Quad, as well as Bryant-Denny Stadium. It also includes a custom pavilion featuring restrooms that conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act. These restrooms offer adult-sized changing tables, something organizers said was meant to ensure that a variety of families can enjoy the park. If you are local or just visiting Tuscaloosa with kids, stop by and play!
